The Villains Gallery Part 2

Thursday, May 31st, 2012

Around 2 weeks ago, I wrote a post about wanting to create a series of paper toy based on mega, badass, super villains.  Days earlier, I came to a realization that the toys that I’ve been releasing lean more towards do-gooders.  The bad guys are getting the short end of the stick.  Obviously, we can’t have that.   For GOOD to exist, there has to be BAD to to rise up against – you get the picture, right?   Anyway, it seems a lot of you agreed.

Disney Villains, by, well... Disney

To all of you who suggested villains to add to the list, many, many thanks.  Here now is the current list of characters who made the cut for the very first Paper Toy Adventures Villains Gallery:

  • Loki
  • Joker
  • Magneto
  • Red Skull
  • Governor
  • Green Goblin
  • Doctor Doom
  • Doctor Octopus

Note that they are not arranged in any order whatsoever.  For the villain suggestions that didn’t make the cut, we can find a place for them in the next batches.

Come back in a few days and witness the beginning of the bad guy invasion 😉

Cheers!

Amon Paper Toy, Now Available!

Monday, May 28th, 2012

Here he is people!  The big baddy (so far) from Nickelodeon’s Legend of Korra animated series is now available to terrorize your desk – or should I say equalize?  Only you can tell.

Do you want me to take away your bending powers? Do ya!

For those of you who just joined us, this contender template is a bit different than the others.  It’s got a hood that can be tricky to put together.  For tips on how to assemble Amon, go check out this mini tutorial I wrote when I released Ezio last year.

You can download the template here.  Subscribe to this blog to receive the password in the mail and gain access to the downloads section.  Registration is free, just enter your email address in the subscribe field at the right-hand side of the page header.

Come back tomorrow for Caption Tuesdays!

Coming Soon: Legend of Korra’s Amon

Friday, May 25th, 2012

Amon, from Nickelodeon’s “Legend of Korra” series, is coming soon.

I’m luvin’ the series so far, more than the Aang series, I totally recommend watching it.

One of the cooler villains I've seen in a while.

This guy is cool in sooo many levels.  Even a chibi version of him looks so ominous.  Anyway, come back soon, I should be done with the template in a few days.

Cheers!

Guess Who Got Published!

Thursday, May 24th, 2012

This marks one more personal milestone reached!

Construct Your Own Paper Robots, 35 unique, robot-inspired, toy designs – that’s a whole lot of time designing a whole lot of toys.

Construct Your Own Paper Robots

Pretty cool to see your name on the cover of a book. WOOHOO!

All toys are printed in full color, all of which are prefolded and perforated.  Just punch out the template from the page and glue as needed.  Perfect for kids of all ages (even the older-looking ones LOL).

3 Pets and a Baby

A robot with a brain, always cool!

These are repair bots, they come with a patient too.

Yes, they "volt" in. WuLongTi, if you're out there, this one's for you!

The butler did it.

Randy the Wrestler - reminds me of Crunch from Mighty Orbots!

Siege Horse by Marc Aldrin Collado

Scorpion Lobster by Carl Zeno Manalo

Many, many thanks to the great folks at CICO Books for inviting me to collaborate with them on this book.  I had a great time working with them.  The experience was a very enjoyable one!

A whole lot of thanks go out to Marc Aldrin Collado and Carl Zeno Manalo – two extremely talented artists who assisted me in preparing textures for the toys.  They also designed two of the robots in the book.

Lastly, thanks to my family, who provided inspiration for the toys, and for leaving me alone while I was working on them LOL.  LuvYa!

So what are you waiting for?  Go get yourselves 2 copies of this book – one to assemble, and one to keep.

COME AND GET IT HERE!

Cheers!

And thus the saga continues, this time with a guest hero from a different universe, timeline, publishing house, and so on – you get the picture.

I often wondered what would happen if these guys duked it out, I’m sure you did too.  Maybe we’ll find out, right here.

So…. here it is folks!

Nick Fury from The Avengers Movie

Monday, May 21st, 2012

I am mighty glad a bunch of you asked for Fury.  This guy turned out to be cooler than what I was expecting.  I actually wrote him off the to do list, thinking he was going to end up as just one of the many characters with a weapons cache.  He did (now he’s my fave character with a weapons cache LOL), but if you add the trench coat to the mix, along with Mr Samuel L. Jackson’s attitude playing the role, it just works well, in a whole lot of different levels.

Say hello to my little friend 😉

To attach the coat, do it like how I did Red Hood’s jacket.  Note that you’ll have to roll up the edges of  the trench coat, similar to how I did Thor’s hair for that “flowing coat” effect, yes the sides and the back – tweezers are the perfect tool for this.   The arms are best connected to the coat, not the body.  You’ll need to snip off a bit from the section of the arm that you insert through the slits – you’ll know what I’m talking about when you get to that point.

I've got my eye on you...

As for the weapons cache, it includes the “standard issue” pistol, rifle, and stinger (from Solid Snake) that you normally see here at PTA.  I was too lazy to design a rocket launcher that looked similar to what Fury used in the movie, so I just borrowed Snake’s stinger template – worked like a charm.  Saved me tons of time too.

Sir, I'm gonna have to ask you to exit the donut!

The Villains Gallery Part 1

Friday, May 18th, 2012

Hi All!

I’ve been receiving requests for paper toys based on villains lately.  I think it’s about time I did so, since most of the toys I release are heroes, except maybe for Silver Samurai  and Bane.  I’m thinking of releasing a series of maybe 8 or 10 of the meanest, baddest, bad guys ever.  These guys should be veritable icons in their own right, beyond the usual bully or street thug.  That, plus they should be cool too.

That said, I’d like to know if any of you have any suggestions on which villains should be included in the list.  I’d appreciate it if you can send me links to references to the characters as well, just so I’m sure we’re talking about the same character 😉  Note that the list can accommodate characters from different universes, by universes, I mean comic book publishers, games, movies, etc,…

Chillin' like a Villain! IMAGE CREDIT: Disney / Fanpop

I’ve started with a list (in progress) below, I can still include or omit characters from it, depending on your comments.

  1. Loki – from Marvel’s “Avengers” movie
  2. Red Skull – from Marvel’s  “The First Avenger” movie
  3. The Joker – Heath Ledger’s of course!
  4. Doctor Doom?
  5. Darth Vader?

If you have any suggestions, do sound off in the comments section, or PM me through the contact thingy on the right.  And in case any of you say Thanos, I’d suggest to save him for when the Avengers 2 movie comes out 😉

Cheers!

Coming Soon: Nick Fury

Thursday, May 17th, 2012

Hi All!

It seems there are a number of you who’d like a PTA version of Mr. Fury.   Since that is the case, I must oblige.  Many thanks to those of you who messaged me with the request.

Nick Fury, complete with eyepatch and mayhem...

The resulting template should have the usual guns and rifles, maybe a rocket launcher.  If time permits, I’ll prepare a trench coat too.

That’s it for now.  Cheers!

Caption Tuesdays! no. 34

Tuesday, May 15th, 2012

I recently discovered the wonderful world of 9gag (that and instagram – so add me up quick!  My username is papertoyadventures).  I also recently completed a number of Avengers-inspired paper toys which prompted me to take a bunch of pictures of the paper super heroes.  9gag as well as the unplanned photo shoot inspired me to reboot Caption Tuesdays.

As to why I even stopped posting those, I alone know… MWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Moving on, here now is the first Caption Tuesdays! post for the year.

Enter your cool caption for this image in the comments section below.

I did it a bit differently this time around.
