ActionCraft Toy Box, The Kickstarter Launch Party!

Wednesday, June 17th, 2015

Before I forget, we’re having a launch party on the day the ActionCraft Toy Box Kickstarter Campaign goes live. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, go here for more info about the project, and here to know more about the new features we want to add to complete the app through Kickstarter.

Oh, and since you’re already jumping from page to page, might as well like our Facebook page here. Think of it as exercise 😉 Come on, skip to it!

Yes, it's time to party - paper toy style!

The launch will be held at the Adult Recreation Center located at 201 E Colorado St in Glendale on June 20, from 3 to 5pm. If you’re good at using Google Maps (I know I’m not), go here for directions.

Yes, it's called the Adult Recreation Center - stop laughing! The place is cool BTW.

If you’re in the area, do drop by. The event will be great for the kids. We’re going to have story telling, a paper toy workshop, and IF you ask nicely, we’ll let you try the latest prototype of ActionCraft Toy Box.

The prototype in action! That's the on/off button for viewing props in the editor!!!

If you’re interested to back us on Kickstarter, we can walk you through the process at the venue.

If you have decided that you’re going to back us because you like what we’re doing (and because you’re a good and loving person) it would be best to do so on the day of the launch itself – if we reach over 30% of our funding goal on the first day, it increases our chances of being prominently featured on Kickstarter, which increases our chances of reaching our target!

Last but not least, there will be PIZZA! The official food of #actioncrafters all over the world!

I apologize to all the artists in the audience for using Comic Sans XD

Seriously though, it’s a fun and creative way to spend 2 hours of your time with the kids, nephews, nieces, friends, and BFFs! Don’t forget to RSVP, we have limited slots!

See you there!

Cheers!

ActionCraft Toy Box, The Kickstarter Campaign!

Monday, June 15th, 2015

Hey guys!

I just wanted to share a more information about what we’re doing with ActionCraft Toy Box. If you didn’t catch my previous post about it, no worries, go here then come back right after.

As mentioned previously, the current version of the app allows you to do these:

  • Choose from a number of themed models, so far we have 6 i.e. Knight, Sorceress, Soldier, Tech Girl, and 2 general model)
  • Customize your chosen model with pre-made textures and graphics
  • Email the final design to yourself to print later or you can print wirelessly

Meet 2 of our original characters, soon to star in their own paper toy story book!

We want to add a couple more features to make the app even better:
  • DRAWING TOOLS that will allow you to design your own textures/graphics
  • The GLOBAL PAPER TOY GALLERY where you can upload and share your designs with others

So far, I’ve self-funded the app, but as you all know, developing an app like this needs a lot of effort and resources. Which is why I’m reaching out to all of you for support – since you’ll likely  be using the app anyway, why not help me finish it, right?

Let's Kickstart this baby!

I’m going to run a KICKSTARTER Campaign this June. It’s going to start this June 20 and end early August of this year. Kickstarter is a crowd funding site that helps people like me develop something like ActionCraft Toy Box for you with your help. You can find out more about Kickstarter here.

I’m running the campaign to add the features I described above, plus depending on how much support you can provide, a few other cool things I think you’ll definitely like.

For almost half a decade now, I’ve shared a lot of free paper toys through this blog. Those same toys were downloaded from around the world, showcased in galleries, featured in craft workshops and classes, as well as re-posted or shared through different websites and blogs.

I like to think that anyone who has downloaded any of my designs had as much fun with them as much as I’ve had fun making them. I set out to build this app so that you yourself can experience even more fun creating and sharing your own designs with others. That, as well as make it easy for you to make your own paper toy action figures to play with your friends and family or just for display.

Sound good so far? If so, COOL!

This project is VERY IMPORTANT to me – I hope it’s something that you can appreciate enough to support. Tell all your cool craft y friends and relatives about the ActionCraft Toy Box Kickstarter campaign. Ask them to support it. Every bit of help we can get for this project will really help us finish the app as well as give you a very cool tool to use and create with. Just imagine the many creative things you can do with it.

I’ll tell you more about the ActionCraft Toy Box Kickstarter Campaign in the next few days – like one of the great things about Kickstarter – THE REWARDS!

In the meantime, if you have any suggestions for the app itself, let me know – maybe we can still squeeze them in.

That’s it for now.

Cheers!

ActionCraft Toy Box : The “Create Your Own Paper Toy” App!

Wednesday, June 10th, 2015

Hullo!

It’s about time I told you a bit more about the project that we’ve been working on. It’s a mobile application that lets you design your own paper toy action figure. As the title of this post says, it’s called ActionCraft Toy Box.

This is how the app icon is going to look like 😉

Action Figures + Arts and Crafts = ActionCraft

Toy Box because it’s essentially a “box” where toys can come from.

Choose from a number of pre-made models.

Customize it using the toy editor...

Once done, email the template to yourself to print or use a wireless printer.

Then assemble it for play or display 😉

Cool eh?

The app isn’t quite done yet, but we’re getting there. I want to add a few more features in the app to make it even cooler. I’ll post more about it in the next few days to let you in on what we have in mind. In the meantime, let me know what you think. Be heard in the comments section below.

That’s all for now.

Cheers!

Daredevil (Red) Paper Toy Now Available!

Monday, June 1st, 2015

This guy was requested a lot here and on Instagram – happy to oblige. I’ve been wanting to release a paper toy based on the Man Without Fear a long time ago, so here it is – Daredevil in his Netflix red (armored) suit is now available for download.

The Man In Red Tights 😉

I like the Netflix red costume better than the Ben Affleck version – yeah, I’m not really a purist when it comes to costumes LOL. That said, I kept the eyes white as a personal preference – feel free to color it “red” if you prefer otherwise.

The template can be downloaded here.  You’ll find the template in the Marvel Universe section.  Subscribe to this blog to receive the password in the mail and gain access to the downloads section.  Registration is free, just enter your email address in the subscribe field at the right-hand side of the page header.

That’s it for now.

Cheers!
