After a Long Hiatus, We Go Back Online to Finally Bring You ActionCraft Toy Box

Tuesday, May 10th, 2016

The past few months have been tough ones. Following our successful Kickstarter Campaign, we went straight to work on the mobile application we set out to build.

Fastforward to where we are today, Actioncraft Toy Box, the app that allows you to design and customize your own paper toy using the our very own (contender) template, is now on the app stores in soft launch. It has been for a couple of months now actually – we just gave our AWESOME KICKSTARTER BACKERS first dibs on the app itself since they were so nice to support us, hence the reason why I’m announcing this just now.

Meanwhile, the actioncraft dev team has been hard at work adding new features as well as a bunch of cool goodies into the app. You will see them soon enough, just as soon as we complete our Quality Assurance tests for the latest version. Once the app has been submitted to both Apple and Google app stores, I will let you know.

ACTB Version 2

The Superhero Update is Coming Soon…

What to expect in the upcoming build? Bug fixes, drawing features, stickers, textures, and a boatload of new toys to play with. Just a hint, expect to see a lot of toy designs of superheroes INSPIRED by  the slew of superhero movies we’ve been watching lately 😉

And to answer your questions – yes the app will be FREE, so you can have access to a lot of the app’s crafty goodness without having to spend for anything. However, we do have OPTIONAL advertisements that will help us earn some moolah so we can keep on churning out cool toys for you to play with – that’s right, us paper toy creators need to eat too.

Anyway, I’ll be posting more about the new superhero designs in the next few days so check back soon.

Cheers!

Titanic Attack on Titan Paper Toys from Austin Billingsley are Now Up!

Tuesday, August 25th, 2015

Hello!

I just wanted to share some paper toy goodness from Austin Billingsley. He’s shared his paper toy design with us a while back – Venom and Joker to name a few, but this time around his work is based on the hottest manga/anime property at this time (unfortunately, it is also a series that I havnen’t had the pleasure of enjoying just yet LOL – soon, very soon…)

I am talking of course about Attack on Titan. If you’ve been living under a rock like me, you can go here to read up on it.

Anyway, what follows are some of the images Austin sent over for reference.

ActionCraft Toy Box, The Kickstarter Campaign!

Monday, June 15th, 2015

Hey guys!

I just wanted to share a more information about what we’re doing with ActionCraft Toy Box. If you didn’t catch my previous post about it, no worries, go here then come back right after.

As mentioned previously, the current version of the app allows you to do these:

  • Choose from a number of themed models, so far we have 6 i.e. Knight, Sorceress, Soldier, Tech Girl, and 2 general model)
  • Customize your chosen model with pre-made textures and graphics
  • Email the final design to yourself to print later or you can print wirelessly

Meet 2 of our original characters, soon to star in their own paper toy story book!

We want to add a couple more features to make the app even better:
  • DRAWING TOOLS that will allow you to design your own textures/graphics
  • The GLOBAL PAPER TOY GALLERY where you can upload and share your designs with others

Mockup of the Drawing Tool Screen

Mockup of the Global Paper Toy Gallery Screen

So far, I’ve self-funded the app, but as you all know, developing an app like this needs a lot of effort and resources. Which is why I’m reaching out to all of you for support – since you’ll likely  be using the app anyway, why not help me finish it, right?

Let's Kickstart this baby!

I’m going to run a KICKSTARTER Campaign this June. It’s going to start this June 20 and end early August of this year. Kickstarter is a crowd funding site that helps people like me develop something like ActionCraft Toy Box for you with your help. You can find out more about Kickstarter here.

I’m running the campaign to add the features I described above, plus depending on how much support you can provide, a few other cool things I think you’ll definitely like.

For almost half a decade now, I’ve shared a lot of free paper toys through this blog. Those same toys were downloaded from around the world, showcased in galleries, featured in craft workshops and classes, as well as re-posted or shared through different websites and blogs.

I like to think that anyone who has downloaded any of my designs had as much fun with them as much as I’ve had fun making them. I set out to build this app so that you yourself can experience even more fun creating and sharing your own designs with others. That, as well as make it easy for you to make your own paper toy action figures to play with your friends and family or just for display.

Sound good so far? If so, COOL!

This project is VERY IMPORTANT to me – I hope it’s something that you can appreciate enough to support. Tell all your cool craft y friends and relatives about the ActionCraft Toy Box Kickstarter campaign. Ask them to support it. Every bit of help we can get for this project will really help us finish the app as well as give you a very cool tool to use and create with. Just imagine the many creative things you can do with it.

I’ll tell you more about the ActionCraft Toy Box Kickstarter Campaign in the next few days – like one of the great things about Kickstarter – THE REWARDS!

In the meantime, if you have any suggestions for the app itself, let me know – maybe we can still squeeze them in.

That’s it for now.

Cheers!

ActionCraft Toy Box : The “Create Your Own Paper Toy” App!

Wednesday, June 10th, 2015

Hullo!

It’s about time I told you a bit more about the project that we’ve been working on. It’s a mobile application that lets you design your own paper toy action figure. As the title of this post says, it’s called ActionCraft Toy Box.

This is how the app icon is going to look like 😉

Action Figures + Arts and Crafts = ActionCraft

Toy Box because it’s essentially a “box” where toys can come from.

Choose from a number of pre-made models.

Customize it using the toy editor...

Once done, email the template to yourself to print or use a wireless printer.

Then assemble it for play or display 😉

Cool eh?

The app isn’t quite done yet, but we’re getting there. I want to add a few more features in the app to make it even cooler. I’ll post more about it in the next few days to let you in on what we have in mind. In the meantime, let me know what you think. Be heard in the comments section below.

That’s all for now.

Cheers!

Daredevil (Red) Paper Toy Now Available!

Monday, June 1st, 2015

This guy was requested a lot here and on Instagram – happy to oblige. I’ve been wanting to release a paper toy based on the Man Without Fear a long time ago, so here it is – Daredevil in his Netflix red (armored) suit is now available for download.

The Man In Red Tights 😉

I like the Netflix red costume better than the Ben Affleck version – yeah, I’m not really a purist when it comes to costumes LOL. That said, I kept the eyes white as a personal preference – feel free to color it “red” if you prefer otherwise.

The Archer from an Alternate Dimension

Monday, May 25th, 2015

This is just to close off this run with archers, last week, we released the (Green) Arrow paper toy based on the “Arrow” TV series. Debuting this week is the “Archer” from the WB animated film “Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths“. It’s the Green Arrow’s equivalent from a parallel universe. I based the template on the the designs of the very talented Phil Bourassa – you should check his stuff out here.

You talkin' to me?

It’s Not Easy Being Green – The Arrow Paper Toy Now Available

Wednesday, May 20th, 2015

I’ve been wanting to design this paper toy ever since the “Arrow” TV series started airing – actually, ever since the character started showing up in the Justice League Unlimited TV series. Why? It’s because of the mustache and goatie man, they’re the best and sharpest in the business (Except for Dashing Fandral’s maybe – NAH)

Where to base the texture on was tough to decide on too, there are a lot of great designs that represent the character – Bruce Timm’s were great (again the mustache and goatie)! Phil Bourassa’s were top notch! Plus all the designs of all the great artists who drew GA in the comics.

Enter the CW series – I think they did a really good job, they also helped me make my decision on where to base this toy on. Virtual pat on the back right there.

Anyway, I’ll be posting a bunch of captioned stuff on the papertoyadventures instagram account, it’s been fun, especially with the Daredevil character coming fresh off the presses just weeks ago with both characters being vigilantes. Check them out when you can.

Bored netizen of the web, YOU HAVE FAILED THIS CITY!

Daredevil (Black) Paper Toy Now Available!

Monday, May 11th, 2015

Daredevil, in his black suit, based on the Netflix TV series.

I thoroughly enjoyed watching this one – definitely appreciated the fight scenes and his “real-ish” mortality. Foggy Nelson was great too as was the Kingpin, great cast so far. I am looking forward to the next season.
