Pimpin’ Paper: Sucker Punch’ Mech Gunner Paper Toy by Raphael Gatt

Wednesday, May 4th, 2011

Hats off to Raphael Gatt for designing a paper toy of the mech gunner from the Sucker Punch movie.

My compliments to the talented Brazilian 3D artist.  His toy designs are a bit over my head – they are very complex as well as accurate.  I can just imagine the amount of patience involved in staying true to the design.  The details are spot on.

All set to punch some suckers!

You can grab the template of the mech gunner from his site.  Check out more of Raphael’s work there.

Cheers!

Pimpin’ Paper: One NaniBird in under 5 minutes!

This post will be all about the NaniBird by mckibillo.

You can download your own NaniBird for free from his site. Go check it out if you like and see what I’m talking about, just come back after for the rest of this post.

Aside from the cool free templates you can download, mckibillo is also selling printed, precut, perforated, and GLUELESS versions. I got myself one as soon as he released it, and I must say I’m very happy with the purchase.

The template was delivered to me on time with no delays. The package came in very good condition. Compliments to the courier for not messing up the package – two thumbs up!

Fresh from the pack

The template inside is a beauty, it was printed on good quality card stock, I’d say matte finish (not too glossy) on the outside, and no gloss on the inside. The colors are vibrant – my friend Life (yep, that’s her name – cool photographer too) helped me take good clear shots of the bird in progress.

Ready to go!

Prepping the toy for assembly was very easy. Putting it together was even EASIER! I’d say, just 5 minutes tops and you’ve got yourself your very own NaniBird, 3 if you’re rushing. I think writing this post took me longer than  putting a NaniBird together.

I’d like to highlight the locking mechanism used to GLUELESSLY assemble the paper toy. It was very simple yet very effective. Check out the images below.

Cheers!
