The Bike – Yep, we’ve got wheels now!!!

May 26th, 2011

Okay, this one took a long while, but it’s finally done.

The Bike, for lack of a more fun and exciting name, is now ready for download.

VaRoom! ( Figure sold separately LOL )

How to build it?  Read on!

Step 1: Assemble the tires

Note that I purposely left an extra segment to make sure the “radials” cover the tire completely.  This is due to various card stock thicknesses that you or I use when assembling paper toys.  A bit difficult to explain through a post, so just trust me on this.  Once the “radials” completely cover the tire, just cut the extra section off.  Snip! Snip!

Step 2: Assemble Bike 1

Step 3: Glue the tires, use the guides ( What guides you say? See below )

Step 4: Attach Bike 2 to 1

Voila!

Yellow is the new black.

See those yellow lines above?  Those are the guides.  Very useful for steps 3 and 4.  Use them to help you figure out where to align the tires.

Two other things, just in case the template isn’t clear.  If you see the image below, you’ll see a line marked in yellow.  Don’t forget to cut this before assembling the toy.  This is how the contender template will “attach” to the bike.  To further show how to assemble the paper toy and where to insert the rider, I’ve included an assembly diagram as well.

More yellow lines and a diagram.

You can download the template here.  Subscribe to this blog to receive the password in the mail and gain access to the downloads section.  Registration is free, just enter your email address in the subscribe field at the right-hand side of the page header.

Check back in a few days.  Red Hood is coming next.

Cheers!

WIP: The Bike

May 18th, 2011

I mentioned in an earlier post – … Robin ( and the Hood ) that I was working on an accessory to help bring the said paper toys closer to their comic/animation counterparts.  I’m uploading an image just to show you how THAT accessory is coming along.

Drum roll please….

VROOM!...

I went to Paper Toy land to find a ride and all I got was this stupid ...

Yes, the contender template will have access to wheels very soon.  No longer do they have to travel from one end of your desktop to the other on foot.  Soon, they will be able to travel in style.

It’s not the usual accessory that I’ve been releasing as of late, but I’m sure some of you wont mind.  I am still working on some adjustments to the bike template.  Prototyping  can be such a chore sometimes.  I also need to design a texture for it as well.

The bike should be ready for download soon.  Do watch out for it.

That’s all for now.
Cheers!

Pimpin’ Paper: The Little Prince by Feransis Mati

May 16th, 2011

This one is from the Antoine Saint Exupery Estate.  Very cool that they termed the site an “estate” btw.  If the name sounds familiar, it’s because you’ve probably read ” The Little Prince “.

The Little Prince Paper Toy

The texture was designed by Indonesian artist Feransis Mati.  He used Christopher Beaumont’s legendary Cubeecraft template.

You can download the exclusive paper toy from  here.  I wonder if they’re releasing paper toys based on the other characters on the book.  Which one is yours?

That’s all for now.

Cheers!

Young Justice – Robin Paper Toy

May 12th, 2011

Okay, it’s time to get back to the Young Justice run of paper toys.  This time around its the boy wonder.  I think this look is much better than the version from the Teen Titans cartoon, don’t you.  Red and black beats red and green every time ( in my book ).

This template includes battle staves and a cape.  You should know that there’s one other accessory for Robin still to come.  It should be ready next week – just ironing out the kinks.  Watch out for it.  I’ll upload a WIP post soon just to show how things are going.  😉

If you just tuned in and can’t seem to figure out how to assemble the cape.  Go check out my Thor post – that should give you some tips.

Nix the cape, change the texture, and you've got Nightwing! LOL

This image makes me think of doing a batman paper toy LOL

Teen Titans Go!

That’s it for now.

Crafty Collab Presents: MetalheadMax’ Creations

May 9th, 2011

Now for some Crafty Collabs like no other.

These cool creations were designed by 16 year old Max from England.  His customs are hand drawn – they look a bit different from the usual digitally-rendered paper toys, the textures come out more.

I’ll have to try it one of these days and get out of my digital comfort zone.  Just imagine, no Ctrl – Z to help you out ( man’s best invention since sliced bread, don’t you agree? ) – Oh, the horror!

Be careful when you're in the woods...

" We come in peace "

Which one is  your favorite?  Mine’s the Yeti.  Poor boyscout, he didn’t stand a chance.  Check out more of Max’ stuff here.

That’s it for now!

Cheers!
