The Villains Gallery Part 5B: Magneto

June 25th, 2012

Magneto, Master of Magnetism, the sometimes bad and sometimes good super mutant from Marvel Comics is now available for download.  Beware as he magnetizes all of your desktops.

Just continuing the very first Villains Gallery series and having a blast doing it 😉

"My fellow Mutants! The real enemy is out there!"

"Are you sneaking around in here, Charles? Whatever are you looking for?"

"I shall rule the world with an army of paper clips!"

If you need any help in putting this paper toy together, just go to the Assembly Instructions page.  You’ll find plenty of quick links to step-by-step tutorials no how to assemble the toys released from this blog.

The template can be downloaded here.  Subscribe to this blog to receive the password in the mail and gain access to the downloads section.  Registration is free, just enter your email address in the subscribe field at the right-hand side of the page header.

That’s it for now.

Cheers!

June 23rd, 2012

Hello Everyone!

I’m just very excited about sharing what I’ve been working on behind the scenes while the “Villains Gallery” series is ongoing.  In case you’re all wondering, this guy will be released as part of another series following the current one.

Who Am I?

That’s it for now.

Cheers!

Tips ‘n Tricks: How To Assemble The Trench Coat

June 22nd, 2012

Hi All,

Just adding a new tutorial to the “Assembly Instructions” page.  I hope y’all find this useful.  This is also a sort of teaser – I guess now you know what other character I’ve been working on behind the scenes.

How To Assemble The Trench Coat

Template: The Contender

STEP 1: Cut.

STEP 2: Fold.

STEP 3: Attach the arm, snip that excess off. Glue the arms if preferred.

STEP 4: Curl the bottom edges, for effect.

STEP 5: Attach the arms - if you haven't glued them yet.

STEP 6: Position the coat and attach around the neck.

STEP 7: Like so.

STEP 8: Tighten up the fold that attaches to the neck with a tweazer.

STEP 9: Voila!

Check out more tutorials here!

The Villains Gallery Part 5A: Magneto!

June 21st, 2012

Up next is Magneto, master of magnets, the only ultimate villain who can attract and repulse at the same time with style.  He is also one of the more confusing villains for me, simply because I never  know if he’s a good guy or a bad guy.

Magneto, attracting and repulsing here at PTA very soon.

Check back in a few days and be magnetized.

(Cue villainous laughter)

Cheers

Paper Toy Inspiration: Tron Uprising

June 20th, 2012

OMG!

I just saw a couple of episodes of Tron Uprising, and I was blown away.  To be honest, I wasn’t exactly expecting this reaction from me at all.  I found the Tron Legacy movie from 2010 to be a dud – no offense to the fans out there of course, just voicing out an opinion, but to be clear, I loved the movie for the visuals but I hated the story 😉

In my opinion, the series (so far) is a great example of what the movie should have been.  The story is great, pacing too, and the visuals are fantastic.  Each frame, in my opinion, can be framed.  If nothing else, I now have a better appreciation for the Tron mythology.  I highly suggest for all of you to check it out.

Similar to my Arrow post from weeks ago, I’ve already added Tron to my personal to do list 😉  That said, if any of you have any “primo” reference images from the series (turnarounds, character sheets, etc,..), please do send them over, I’d really appreciate it.

For now, I’ll leave you with a few images from the series.

Tron Uprising

Tron Light Cycles

Tron Alley Fight 😉

That’s it for now.

Go watch it!

Cheers!

The Villains Gallery Part 4B: Loki

June 18th, 2012

Loki, God of mischief, lies, and all things not nice is now available for download.

A whole lot of thanks go out to Fred Edward for sending over this Crafty Collab to complete the Avengers characters.  He also updated the staff in the template – the one I included in the post last week shows his staff from the Thor movie.  You’ll find his new staff from the Avengers movie in the final version, you know the one that can turn good guys into bad ones.

Go check out more of Fred’s designs at Squarehead Papercraft.

Alright! I'm finally out, let's do some bad stuff!

Insert witty caption here!

Just a reminder for those of you who may not have read yesterday’s post – the Assembly Instructions page is now up and running.  There you’ll find quick links to step-by-step tutorials on how to assemble the toys released from this blog.  You’ll find a tutorial for Loki’s cape in there too.

The template can be downloaded here.  Subscribe to this blog to receive the password in the mail and gain access to the downloads section.  Registration is free, just enter your email address in the subscribe field at the right-hand side of the page header.

Tips n’ Tricks: The Assembly Instructions Page Is Now Up!

June 17th, 2012

Hi All!

I mentioned in an earlier post that I was going to create a page on this site with information on how to assemble the paper toy templates released from this blog.  Anyway, I just want to announce that that page is now up and that you’ll find a number of tutorials in there already.  Some are linked to old tutorials, some are brand new, and some are still to come.

Go to the Assembly Instructions Page

Just click on the Assembly Instructions page on the right to access the tuts.

Tips ‘n Tricks: How To Assemble The Cape

June 15th, 2012

This is long overdue.

I’ve been meaning to write, for some time now, a series of visual, step-by-step, tutorials on how to assemble the paper toys released from this site, most especially for the Contender template.  As you know, the Contender has many different variations, and it is always helpful to have instructions handy.

That said, this then is the first installment.  I will also create a special section for tutorials for easy access.  That page should be up next week.

And now, the tutorial proper, which is very timely as a number of the next toy releases have capes.

How To Assemble The Cape

Template: The Contender

STEP 1: Cut

STEP 2: Fold

STEP 3: Review

STEP 4: Position and attach to the neck

Voila!

Cheers!

The Villains Gallery Part 4A: Loki

June 14th, 2012

Coming up next from the Villains Gallery Series 1 is Loki, the God of Mischief  ( God of Laughs too, especially when being manhandled by a big giant monster ).  This is one more Crafty Collab to add to the growing list, this time by Fred Edward.  His Loki comes complete with a staff, helmet (with horns that curve), and a cape (After all, Gods of Mischief can’t leave the palace grounds without it ).

"Kneel before me. I said... KNEEL!"

Fred manages a cool paper toy blog called Squarehead Papercraft.  You should check it out.  He also updated a couple of my avengers template (Cap and Iron Man), just to updated them to match the character’s Avengers movie costumes (since I’m too lazy to do it myself LOL).  I’ll make a proper Crafty Collab post about that in the next few weeks, but do check them out now – they look great.

Anyway, come back next week to bare witness to the coming of Loki.

Cheers!
