Crafty Collab: Nightwing Paper Toy

Monday, November 18th, 2013

We’ve got another Crafty Collab for y’all!  It’s another one from Rayenyson – the same dude who gave us the Superman,Iron Spider, and Doc Oc paper toys, just to name a few.  As before, to see more of his stuff, go over to his site here.

Nightwing needs no introduction.  This guy is big fan favorite, myself included.  The costume for this paper toy is based on the Young Justice cartoon, which I think is the best-looking one so far.

Without further ado, here he is 😉

Caption of the Week no.44

Thursday, August 9th, 2012

Today, we have number 44 of our weekly caption challenge.

Previously known as “Caption Tuesdays!” – why the change?  I’ve got my reasons, but it’s mainly due to time and my lack of it.

Anyway, here goes:

I actually posted this image on Instagram a few weeks ago, along with comic bubbles and all that.  I thought it would be great for you guys to have a go at it.  Seems like a fun image to caption.

Anyway, let this be an official invite to everyone out there to follow me on IG!  I’m going to post a bunch of behind the scenes stuff over there,  just in case you guys want to see what I’ve been working on – some might not even make it over here 😉

That’s it for now.

Young Justice – Robin Paper Toy

Thursday, May 12th, 2011

Okay, it’s time to get back to the Young Justice run of paper toys.  This time around its the boy wonder.  I think this look is much better than the version from the Teen Titans cartoon, don’t you.  Red and black beats red and green every time ( in my book ).

This template includes battle staves and a cape.  You should know that there’s one other accessory for Robin still to come.  It should be ready next week – just ironing out the kinks.  Watch out for it.  I’ll upload a WIP post soon just to show how things are going.  😉

If you just tuned in and can’t seem to figure out how to assemble the cape.  Go check out my Thor post – that should give you some tips.

Nix the cape, change the texture, and you've got Nightwing! LOL

This image makes me think of doing a batman paper toy LOL

Young Justice – Red Arrow Paper Toy

Monday, May 2nd, 2011

The Red Arrow paper toy is now available!

This paper toy is based on the character from the Young Justice cartoon series.  It includes a bow, arrow, and a quiver.

As I’ve mentioned in an earlier post, I really like the series, which prompted me to make paper toys based on the characters.

Put your hands up where I can see 'em!

You can download the template here.  Subscribe to this blog to receive the password in the mail and gain access to the downloads section.  Registration is free, just enter your email address in the subscribe field at the right-hand side of the page header.

I’ve included some tips on how to pose the toy with the archer paraphernalia below.

What to do with the bow...

and arrow... all set!

It’s best to prepare the bow and arrow first.  Do not apply glue inside the blow oval – you’ll need this “unglued” so you can insert the arrow into the ” bow slit “.  Yes, it’s sort of a cheat, but hey, it works! Just do it, you’ll thank me later.

Arrow Arm Slit

Use tweezers or something similar to widen the slit – just so it’s easier to insert the arrow later.

Arms to use for the different poses. Take your pick.

You can choose from 2 possible poses for the archer.  You will have to use 2 different sets of hands to do this.  Both sets use the the ” straight ” version of the right ( arrow ) arm.  The left ( bow ) arm is what’s different, as you can see.

This is how we FOLD it...

The technique here is to fold the wrists, just use the image above as a reference on how to how to fold them.

Pose 1

  • The arrow arm is folded at the wrist, inwards, towards the archer’s body ( when attached ).
  • The bow arm is NOT folded.

Pose 2

  • Just like pose 1, the arm is folded inwards at the wrist.
  • The bow arm’s wrist is folded outwards.

...and Voila!

The image above shows you how the poses should look like after you attach the arms.  Insert the fletching ( non-pointed tip of the arrow ) into the ” arrow arm ” slit after attaching both arms.

That’s it!

WIP: Young Justice Robin (and the Hood)

Wednesday, April 27th, 2011

In line with my recent Young Justice posts, here now is a quick update on what else to add to the paper toy version of the team Roster.  The first one was Aqualad, followed by Squareheadpapercraft’s KidFlash and Superboy.  Red Arrow will be released soon, which will then be followed by these two ( Robin first though, coz the other character isn’t part of Young Justice LOL ).

Does anyone know who the guy on the right is?

The one on the right rocks big time!  I saw him in action in one of DCs direct to DVD movies – I have to say, one of the best animated DC movies I’ve ever seen.  More on that in a future post.

I’m working on a couple of enhancements to the contender template – to make the paper toys closer to their animated  counterparts, that and then some.  You’ll just have to check back to see what I mean.

For now, Cheers!
